You actually understand perfectly with a small detail to tweak. You mighr already know all of it, maybe you can tell me which are your top picked cards in the first fights of act one usually so I can tell you if they're good for act 1 and give you alternatives if not.Īct 1, get a few attack cards, the best you can, 1 to 3-4 depending on which. Maybe try to imagine your worst hands and see if you have a potion in case you get a bad hand.Īct 3 is act 2 on steroids, so you can follow the same advice except normally you're more or less ready for the end already, probably need just a few more cards. Go for thel as soon as you feel that your deck works. In act 2 only go for Elites if you feel confident you can control your deck and enemies well enough. You need strong damage for this one, fast. If guardian, draw and block is quite useful.įor Hexaghost, arriving "low"hp can help.

If slime boss, you need either some good AoE or good burst to split it far from half hp. Then with what you get from Elite, shop or event, chose to get some good draw and/or block card as well as the eventual power that works with what you're doing.ĭon't pick cards that you "think might be good maybe later" or you need to be a very good player already.Īlways look at the boss early in the act. Max HP is the easy one, never bad, not amazing.Ĭlick to shrink.Act 1, get a few attack cards, the best you can, 1 to 3-4 depending on which. Potions is a decent choice, not the best outcome although. Common cards are mostly pointless especially early on. Not chosing (as in, only one proposed) is a big random that usually gives you a dead card. Defect's is good for Act 1 mostly only though.Ĭhosing a card can be good when you have to make sure you get an attack early and the best path lacks battles for examole. Reroll also depends on that, Watcher is the best for reroll, the 3 others have very useful relics. Whether you go for a loss of HP, a curse or money depends on the map and character. You can indeed get one or 2 great cards, but it is so random that if you get 2 block/support/power that does no damage you become far worse than just hanging out with your basic deck.īest options are upgrade, money and relic. Transforming strating cards is usually a very bad idea. Pleasealso read my answer to the next person if you want ^^. Trust me, that initial deck is the least of your problem. How are you picking your cards ? How do you chose paths ? And at the end of these 3 you can get cards strong enough to kill an elite or stronger enemies than the 3 at the beginning. The original deck is plenty enough for the 1st 3 easy battles. You don't even need to get rid of all the strikes and still win on any ascension.Īll it means is that you need to get better at crafting your run whether it's the deck, the choices of path to take, what you buy in shops. You absolutely don't need to get rid of all your starting carfs. Because hard work and genius should be celebrated, regardless of whether it suits my personal tastes. I do love that this game sold metric craptons of copies.
SLAY THE SPIRE REDDIT HOW TO
They know how to push all my buttons, and yet leave me unsatisfied. But I feel like they are geniuses who hate me. And it works across 20+ difficulty levels. Whether it's enemies or cards or relics or potions, every element is like a piece of a beautiful puzzle. So what do I like about it? The PHENOMENAL design of the game. And the RNG can sometimes be lethal and out of control. There's something about the sloooow beginning with the trash starting deck that really pisses me off. It gets me drunk, but I don't like the taste. As a lover of both card games and roguelikes, this should've been like catnip to me. I can't deny that this game is addictive. Or maybe it's about the overdose of randomness that can't always be worked around.Īnd yet I'm on Ascension 7 and working my way up.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that you ALWAYS start with a bunch of trash cards you will have trouble getting out of your deck. I love roguelikes, but I don't really enjoy my runs in Slay the Spire.
